The Samsung Galaxy S3 is actually barely in stores, or shows a newer version of the software from the camera of the device available. It is confined exclusively to the camera – there is not a “real” firmware update. Indeed, it is our still not exactly clear what improvement the new software does – except that it is newer.
Who still wants his camera software update goes as follows (note: you do this course at your own risk!)
- Go to the phone app, where you can test a number
- Key: * # 34971539 #
- Select “Phone / CAM FW Ver Check” to check whether the current camera software version indeed “GDFD06 ‘(the new version is” GDFE01)
- Select “Phone Write to CAM FW (Rear)” to the update process. This happens automatically Over The Air (OTA), so make sure you’re connected via WiFi. Until the update is in progress, nothing – we repeat NOTHING! – Do with the device until it reports that the update is completed, and the device must be restarted
- Start your Galaxy S3 again and voilà: you have your camera software updated
As I said, it is not entirely clear what improvements this update brings. If you notice anything, please let us know below!
