Samsung Galaxy Round is nice, but not a sales success

How striking Samsung’s first curved smartphone – the Galaxy Round – is, a lot are not sold: no ten thousand, to be in exactly forty days. Is this surprising? Well, not really.

The Galaxy Round fact has suffered from three limiting factors when it comes to sales success. If the first unit is actually hardly available outside South Korea. Just as so-called ‘gray imports’ Round the sale. In other countries

Secondly, it is just a very expensive device, with a retail price of the equivalent of over a thousand dollars – or at least 740 euros. Okay, the Galaxy Note 3 has an MSRP that there is close, but also offers more functionality.

And finally Samsung has already admitted that the Round is really just an experiment with the concept of curved smartphones, of which only a self limited number will be produced .

Still, it is interesting to keep the sales numbers of many devices discussed in the eye – just to see the matter a little in proportion. Yes, the Galaxy Round gets a lot of attention, but compared to devices like the Galaxy Note 3 and S4 he really does not it. It is a pet peeve – for the display, shall we say. The real flexible smartphone revolution must follow. That is, if we Samsung itself may believe .
